A bizarre shooting on the east side has put one man in the hospital and three others riding in a VIA bus injured.
Police said someone started shooting from behind the Bail Bonds Place at I-10 and Martin Luther King Drive at around 3 p.m. Sunday.
The bullets hit a Black Honda Civic with three people riding inside. According to authorities, that car then rear-ended a VIA bus.
Police said one of the men riding in the Black Honda Civic was shot in the stomach.
Instead of taking the injured man to the hospital, the driver took him to a house on Three Springs, east of Kirby. That's where they called for help and an ambulance. The victim was transported to SAMMC in unknown condition.
Investigators said their efforts have been hampered by the amount of trash found at the crime scene.
"Let's put it this way," said Sgt. Bryan Custard with SAPD. "We found 21 shell casings, including shotguns. We only know one sound being shot, so one caliber gun, but there are so many shots out here at night, and everything else, that they found a whole bunch of stuff."
