SAN ANTONIO -- Throwing away a piece of trash in San Antonio will soon be a lot more high-tech.
City council on Thursday approved the purchase of 25 solar-powered, trash-compacting cans that officials say will make trash pickup at city parks much more efficient.
Each can costs about $8,000.
Officials said the cans will pay for themselves after six years of use.
