SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for dousing his wife with gasoline and setting her on fire while she slept.
The Springfield News-Leader reported this week that Antonio L. Draper received a 20-year sentence for first-degree domestic assault and a 20-year sentence for armed criminal action in the 2007 assault. He will serve the sentences at the same time.
The Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's office says that because the domestic assault charge involved a dangerous felony, Draper must serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. He pleaded guilty in August.
His wife told authorities they had been arguing about his drinking before she received burns over 60 percent of her body.
