San Antonio police are investigating the city's first murder of 2012 after a man was found fatally shot Wednesday night at an apartment complex on the city's northwest side.

Residents at the Springwood Apartments, 1400 Gardina St., reported hearing gunshots in the parking lot around 8:30 p.m. Officers responded and found the victim slumped over in a car.

"The original call came in for an injured person sitting in a car," said police Lt. Jerry Villarreal. "The two officers arrived, they noticed that the victim had been shot in right side of the head."

Police identified the victim as Rodolfo Velasquez. He was 36.

No weapon was found at the scene and no arrests have been made, police said.
