SAN ANTONIO -- A man is nursing a gash on his head after his girlfriend attacked him with a meat cleaver at her apartment Sunday afternoon, police say.
The victim was bleeding from a cut to the head when San Antonio police officers arrived at the Springvale Manor Apartments, near Loop 410 and Valley Hi, around 3:45 p.m.
The man told officers he was pickup up some furniture and other items that belong to him when he and his girlfriend got into an argument, police said. That's when his girlfriend allegedly picked up a meat cleaver and swung it at his head.
Police said the victim dodged the brunt of the cleaver, but still suffered a minor cut to the forehead. He later took himself to the hospital for stitches.
The suspect will likely face charges of aggravated assault, police said. But charges could be upgraded, they said, depending on the suspect's prior criminal record.
