SAN ANTONIO -- Police reports indicate two men were on a mission Tuesday night: to rip-off women walking the streets.

It ended in one death, and capital murder charges.

“Absolutely tragic. Absolutely tragic,” said San Antonio Police Chief William McManus.

Police say 41-year Cecilia Tijerina’s life was snuffed-out for the contents of her wallet.

Authorities arrested 21-year old Adam Rincon and 29-year old Rickey Flowers. They have both been charged with capital murder.

A witness told police Rincon got out of his Ford pickup with a gun and demanded cash in the 1100 block of Rivas.

The witness said Tijerina told the armed men she had no cash and was shot twice from behind and then run over.

McManus said, “That shooting was nothing less than cold blood. Cold-blooded murder.”
Police reports indicate Tijerina wasn’t the first one to run into Rincon and Flowers.

Just minutes before her death, in another area frequented by prostitutes, two more women had been cornered by the men in the silver Ford pickup.

Police say Gloria Hernandez and Jo Rodriguez were walking along Roosevelt Blvd.  Hernandez told police she had her skull split open by the gun and her wallet stolen. She was taken to a local hospital in fair condition.

Investigators noticed Rincon’s vehicle insurance card near the victim’s blood stain on the street.
The dropped card would help lead to the two men’s arrest, two miles away.

“A lookout was given over the police radio. And minutes later one of our sergeants stopped the car, found the weapon in the car, and arrested the two.”

Unfortunately, it would come too late for Tijerina, who died from her gunshot wounds.
Rincon and Flowers are in jail on bonds of one million dollars.
