SAN ANTONIO -- Police say a woman with three small children in her car was arrested on suspicion of DWI after slamming into a utility pole early Thursday afternoon.
One of the children was treated for minor facial injuries at the scene of the accident, police said. All of the children were under the age of 5.
The crash occurred in the 2200 block of Vance Jackson just after 1 p.m. According to authorities, the woman was driving so fast that she took out the entire utility pole. Traffic was blocked off for over an hour as officers worked to clear the scene. CPS Energy was called to repair the damaged utility pole.
Officers said they also found what appears to be drugs inside the woman's car.
The 20-year-old driver was arrested and charged with DWI with children under the age of 18, police said. The added that she may also be facing additional drug charges in the near future.
The children were picked up by relatives and taken to a family physician.
