Child found dead in truck fire while riding with grandfather near Hwy 151

SAN ANTONIO -- A child was found dead after a vehicle burst into flames on the city's far northwest side Saturday morning. According to SAPD, a grandfather was traveling with his grandchild in a pickup truck in the 10500 block of Mt. Evans near Highway 151 when something reportedly went wrong with the vehicle. The grandfather pulled the truck over and popped open the hood to investigate when there was an explosion and a fire, police said. The grandfather suffered slight burns and was taken to University Hospital. Police said the child could not be saved.
