'Tis the season to spread holiday cheer.

The San Antonio Fire Department partnered  with the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) to collect toys for needy kids.

On Saturday any child 12 and under who donated a new, unwrapped toy received free entrance into the museum.

The ITC exhibit Timeless Texas Toys features kid favorites from as far back as the 1920s and 1930s.

"In the 1920s and 30s the fire department would collect toys to give to needy children. And they would collect even used toys because  back then they would repair them. Now, most of the toys were  wooden, so they were  easy enough to repair. Today if you have a broken plastic toy, you know, it's pretty much broken for good," says ITC's Sarah Gould.

You can make a toy donation  at all San Antonio fire stations, except for the airport location, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. through December 10
