SAN ANTONIO -- A 5-year-old boy is recovering after he was reportedly forced to put his foot in scalding hot water.
According to an arrest warrant, on October 15, 25-year-old Louis Jaramillo was getting after his girlfriend's son when the alleged incident happened.
Authorities said Jaramillo spanked the boy and then took him to the bathroom and locked the door.
San Antonio police said Jaramillo put the boy's foot under scalding hot water.
The victim's mother heard the boy screaming and tried to get Jaramillo to let the boy out.
Investigators said when the mother was finally able to see her son, the skin was burned off his foot.
The boy's mother and her boyfriend care for the child's injury for eight days, but they eventually called EMS when the boys foot began to blister and smell.
The boy spent two weeks in the hospital and had to have numerous surgeries and and skin grafts and continues to need medical care.
Jaramillo was arrested Monday and booked into the Bexar County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
