San Antonio-- The investigation started several weeks ago and today authorities moved in with a search warrant. Animal Care Services and San Antonio Police seized 22 roosters.

They were at the same location two weeks ago and seized 55 birds.

The owner of the property denies any involvement in cockfighting and said he's owned the property for almost 50 years. One man was detained for a time, but no charges have been filed.

Authorities said they found cockfighting paraphernalia. New laws that went into effect September 1st make it a crime to watch a rooster fight and police can now arrest those suspected of breeding fighting roosters.

There's a hearing in 10 days to determine what happens to the animals seized Thursday afternoon. ACS will attempt to gain permanent custody of the birds.
