KINNEY COUNTY -- A portion of US 90 between Del Rio and Bracketville was closed Tuesday morning after a train carrying hazardous chemicals ran off the tracks.

Union Pacific spokeswoman Raquel Espinoza said about 30 cars carrying pipes, pellets, lube oil and some hazardous materials ran off the tracks on Tuesday morning.

The roadway was reopened around 1:30 p.m.

The Texas Department of Transportation originally said in a press release that the roadway was to remain closed until a spill is cleaned up. TxDOT then said there was no confirmed spill.

Espinoza and the Kinney County Sheriff's Office also said no spills were reported.

A detour was established to Del Rio by way of FM 3008 and FM 2523.

Espinoza said the train was traveling from Houston to California.
