SAN ANTONIO -- A man accused of shooting another man in the face aboard a VIA Metropolitan Transit bus on Monday morning has been taken into custody.
The shooting was first reported in east Bexar County around 8:30 a.m.
The victim was shot in the jaw, Bexar County deputies said, and was flown to San Antonio Military Medical Center in unknown condition.
The suspect was seen leaving the scene of the shooting on a bicycle.
Authorities continued to search for the suspect at FM 3346 and Highway 107. Soon after, a standoff situation was underway in a nearby subdivision at 10:45 a.m.
The suspect was reportedly held up inside a residence at the Home Place Subdivision off FM 3432. The standoff ended around 11:45 a.m.
A spokesperson for VIA Metropolitan Transit confirmed they have received a report that someone was shot on a bus.
There were four other people aboard the bus at the time of the shooting, deputies said.
BCSO spokesman Paul Berry said the San Antonio Police Department launched the Blue Eagle helicopter to help in the search.
