POTEET -- Police in Poteet are investigating a teen drinking party that allegedly took place at the home of a former school board member.
Officers estimated nearly 45 young people were at the home in the 400 block of Fourth Street when they showed up late Saturday night after a report of a fight. Officers had previously showed up to check on a noise complaint, but had left after giving a warning.
Police said they are looking into whether the homeowner will be charged with providing alcohol to minors.
Teens at the party include students from four different area school districts, including Poteet, Sinton, Pleasanton and Jourdanton. Police said the administrators will receive the names of the students who were ticketed.
Police said about 15 teens scattered through the house when officers showed up. Some of the teens allegedly escaped from the house by breaking a window and ripping off an air conditioning unit.
Some parents have complained that politics played a role in which teens were cited and which teens were not cited at the party.
Police said they had six officers respond to the house and tried their best to gather everyone at the party.
