They were sitting down to their dinner when some local paramedics became witnesses to a shooting on the northwest side.

It looked like a drug deal gone very wrong, police said.

About 6:45 p.m. Sunday a 30-year-old man parked his car at a car wash stall at Loop 410 and Callaghan Road.

According to investigators the man was meeting two other men for a drug deal.

But something turned the deal sour and the 30-year-old was shot in his side.

When the victim crawled out of his car, two persons inside started driving off in the victim's car.

Police said just before the two left, one of them shot the victim a second time as the downed man was lying on the ground.

It just so happened that some paramedics were having dinner at the Popeye's. They told police they witnessed the whole thing going down.

The paramedics went right to work, and transported the injured man to University Hospital in critical condition.

A few minutes after the shooting, the suspects reportedly crashed the victim's car just up the road at Loop 410 and Babcock Road, then fled the scene.

An investigation is ongoing.
