SAN ANTONIO -- Police say a former employee is suspected of holding up the popular Mexican restaurant La Fonda on Main just after closing time on Tuesday night.

A man dressed in black and wearing a mask allegedly walked in the side entrance with a gun as two employees were closing the restaurant, 2415 N. Main Ave., around 11 p.m.

The employees told investigators that the gunman forces them into the back office and made one of them open the safe, police said.

Investigators said the suspect got away with about $800 in cash.

Police said the employees could not provide a good description of the robber because his face was completely concealed by the mask.

Detectives said the suspect knew the layout of the restaurant so well that they believe he may have been a former employee.
