The sound of a train on the north side apparently wasn't loud enough for one man to avoid getting hit by it late Thursday night.

At around midnight, police say the man was walking along Hildebrand and Hollywood near San Pedro.

The train conductor told police the man came out of nowhere but didn't seem to see the train.

"He was trying to cross the train tracks from east to west," said Capt. Cris Andersen of the San Antonio Police Department. "He had a beer in one hand and cell phone in the other and probably wasn't paying attention when he crossed the tracks."

Police say the man appears to be in his mid-20s. His identification has not been released.
