Police: Alleged drunk driver crashes into Texas police officer

SANTA FE, Texas—Authorities are investigating a crash that sent one Santa Fe police officer to the hospital Saturday. It happened on FM 1764 in Santa Fe, Texas.
Police said around 10:30 p.m., 27-year-old Jodie Ray Osborn was allegedly under the influence when he crashed into a fully marked police vehicle. Officer Edward Pean was in his squad car when Osborn slammed into it.
Officer Pean was transported by ambulance to Mainland Medical Center and later released. He was treated for minor injuries, including superficial lacerations to the face.
Osborn was required to submit to a blood specimen based on a recent change in the law and the injuries sustained by the officer. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Two additional passengers in the suspect’s vehicle were also arrested for possession of marijuana, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
All three suspects were booked into the Galveston County Jail.
