At least one person was injured in an explosion Tuesday morning near Gillett, TX, according to the Karnes County Sheriff's Office.
A saltwater disposal well reportedly exploded around 4:45 a.m.. The injured person was transported by Airlife in unknown condition.
Karnes County Sheriff Dwayne Villanueva said the fire settled down but there was initially a danger of a second explosion.
Roadways around the explosion site were initially shut down including Highway 80 between Gillett and Nixon, and Highway 119 to Yorktown.
The Sheriff identified the company that owns the well as Gulf Coast Acquisitions. One of the workers on the scene told KENS 5's Marvin Hurst the injured person is a man in his early 30's from Gonzales County.
Karnes City, Kenedy, Gillett and Nixon fire departments responded to the scene.
Gillett, Texas is located approximately 50 miles southeast of San Antonio.
