There's an out pour of generosity to help the victims of this tragedy.

Operation Homefront is a non-profit agency that is stepping up to the plate to provide for the military families affected by the Fort Hood massacre.

When a soldier dies in combat, Operation Homefront already helps their families left behind.

Now a tragedy on American soil is no different.

The day following the massacre, Karen Smithhart was busy answering calls from people wanting to reach out to help.

Operation Homefront has set up an emergency tragedy fund.

"Right now money is the best help for immediate relief," said Smithhart. "At this time we really don't know how what the needs are. Needs are going to change on a case by case basis," she added.

The agency has been on standby ever since family readiness group leaders from Fort Hood alerted.

"So many people are still in response mode," said Smithhart.

Monetary donations will help provide funds for loved ones of victims at Fort Hood, so they don't get behind on their bills.

Operation Homefront is also hoping to bring peace of mind to troops still serving overseas. "Service members abroad think they're families are safe here. It's tragic for everyone," said Smithhart.

If you would like to donate you can call Operation Homefront at 1-800-779-5921.
