An eagle-eyed San Antonio police officer is being credited for putting two purse-snatching suspects behind bars.

KENS 5 Eyewitness News cameras were there as officers led the two suspects into custody.

The arresting officer says he was on his routine patrol on new Laredo Highway Friday when he saw one of the men yank a 70-year-old woman to the ground and take her purse.

"That was awesome work by the officer. I mean, that's an example of an officer being out patrolling and paying attention to what's going on in the community. And if it hadn't been for him, these guys would've probably got away," says Lt. Carthel Williams with the SAPD Robbery Task Force.

Those suspects are facing assault and robbery charges.
