A new personalized license plate program from the state of Texas launches Thursday.

The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles has partnered with MyPlates.com to offer almost two dozen license plate designs that are also customizable. Spokesmen for the new campaign say that more than 2,000 plates have already been ordered.

Texas receives revenue from the sale of the plates, and according to a press release, the state is guaranteed at least $25 million over the next five years from the sale of the plates. Texas is the first state to offer such a joint program with a private company.

The plates cost between $55 and $195 per year. Once ordered, the plates should be ready for pickup three weeks later at the buyer's local county tax office.

The plates are available for cars, trucks, motorcycles, trailers and private buses.
