More than a hundred teachers and staff in the North East Independent School District are being told this week that they're being laid off.

The NEISD school board says the layoffs are the result of a severe budget shortfall and that the district has no choice.

Fifty-seven teachers, three special-ed positions and 43 campus-classified operations employees will get pink slips.

The district says all those being laid off will be notified Thursday in writing.
