Authorities shifted into high gear Thursday morning, placing a New Braunfels school in lock-down mode at around 10:45 while they assessed a possible threat that appeared on a social media site.
Officials at New Braunfels High School said the school was in lockdown for about an hour after the New Braunfels Police Department received a threat.
A 17-year-old New Braunfels student was taken into custody. They say that student is facing terroristic threat charges after allegedly posting threats.
“The decision to place the school on lockdown was made to ensure the safety of children and faculty while the suspect was being located,” said John Burks, principal at the high school. “At no time was the suspect on campus during the lockdown, and all students were safe.”
