SAN ANTONIO -- A 61-year-old man is facing two charges of aggravated assault  with a deadly weapon in connection to a stabbing in March 2012.

Esteban Gutierrez was arrested Monday.

San Antonio police said Gutierrez was fighting with a man in the 2700 block of Blanco Road when another tried to break it up. He allegedly stabbed both of the men.

Both victims were taken to University Hospital. One of the men was critically wounded.

According to an arrest warrant, Gutierrez was taken into police custody for questioning the night of the fight, but was later released.

Police said Gutierrez denied he was involved in the stabbing.

According to the warrant, officers could not question the victims for quite some time because of ongoing medical treatment.

The victims later identified Gutierrez once they were released from the hospital.

Gutierrez was booked into the Bexar County Jail on $100,000 bond.
