SAN ANTONIO -- A 20-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly beating a woman at an ATM machine before stealing her car.

San Antonio police arrested Deja Love McKinney at his home on Monday night in connection to the Aug. 3 robbery.

According to his arrest affidavit, McKinney yanked the 49-year-old victim from her car while she was depositing cash at an ATM machine at Rigsby and Loop 410.

Sgt. Daniel Alonzo, of the SAPD Robbery Task Force, said McKinney beat the woman until she fell to the ground.

“She got into a defensive posture on her stomach and the suspect then kicked her in her back and kidney several times," he said.

"He jumps into the vehicle drives. And from what she stated, she literally had to roll out of the way to avoid the back wheels from striking her.”

The victim suffered only minor bruising on her back and face.

Police found the woman’s car crashed and abandoned the next morning off Harry Wurzbach and Loop 410.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video and checking to see if he may be connected to any other robberies in the area.

He is currently being held at Bexar County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
