If you're in the market for a roof, be careful who you trust. That's the message in Kerr County where a man has been arrested for swindling an elderly couple out thousands dollars.

Joseph Anthony Riley, 21, was arrested after deputies set up a sting operation at the victim's house. The victim's family says they gave Riley $11,000 to spray a preservative on their roof.

The "preservative" turned out to be water.

Detectives think he's pulled the scam before. They're asking anyone who thinks they've been scammed by Riley to call the Kerr County sheriff's department.

Riley is now free on a $20,000 bond.
