SAN ANTONIO -- They arrived with lights and sirens but there was no fire. Instead, some local firefighters played Santa for a day.

Members of the Jarret Fire Department in Von Ormy delivered gifts to kids at the Ronald McDonald House on Sid Katz Drive Saturday.

Dozens of stuffed animals and toys were handed out to eagerly awaiting children.

The cause hit close to home for some firefighters.

"About a couple years back, I have a brother that use to have cancer and the Ronald McDonald house played a big part in our household," Michael Gutierrez said, a Jarret firefighter. "And us firefighters are called to serve the community, why not give back to the community on Christmas Day?"

The Ronald McDonald House helps provide support for families with sick children.
