SAN ANTONIO -- The training group at Joint Base San Antonio - Lackland has a new leader as the Air Force tries to get a handle on the largest sex scandal in its history.
Col. Deborah Liddick assumed command of the 737th Training Group on Friday morning.
The change of command came just days before a fifth Lackland instructor will face a court martial in what has become a widespread sex scandal involing at least 42 alleged female victims.
"My goal coming into the job? I am a disciplined officer. I will focus on 100 percent compliance," she said. "I will ensure the airmen under my command -- the professional airmen under my command -- maintain the highest standards possible, the standards are enforced, and folks are held accountable."
Much has been made about the selection of a woman to assume command of the training group, but Liddick is not the first female to hold the position. In fact, she is the third woman to lead the 737th Training Group in the past 10 years.
And Liddick said Friday the fact she's a female had nothing to do with her selection.
