SAN ANTONIO -- Some cities are banning K-2, the popular synthetic marijuana that is completely legal.
Made from herbs and spices, it mimics marijuana and medical experts are now seeing the dangerous side effects.
Dr. Miguel Fernandez, the medical director for the South Texas Poison Center, says he recently treated a man in his 30s after he smoked the synthetic marijuana.
The drug is being investigated in the death of 19-year-old Dominique Tate, who died Friday at Texas Health Dallas Hospital.
Since Saturday, two more Dallas teenagers have also suffered health problems from smoking K-2.
Currently, no method exists to detect K-2 in the body.
Four north Texas towns have already banned the drug. Dallas is considering doing the same.
San Antonio council members told KENS 5 they haven't even discussed the issue.
