SAN ANTONIO -- It gets especially busy this time of year for those helping people in our community struggling with needs.
The San Antonio Food Bank's Zuani Villareal joined KENS 5's Barry Davis to discuss the challenges and how the public can help.
"There's tremendous need, " Villareal said. "The past couple of years have been incredible in terms of the number of people coming to us for help.
"Right now during the holidays, it's such an important time," she added. "Without our assistance, these families would go without. It would just be another day...where they don't know where there next meal is coming from."
KENS 5 has a drive underway that ends Jan. 1 to help the food bank. Bring your non-perishable items to IBC Bank branches, Santikos theaters, and the Kahlig Auto Group.
Canned meats, canned beans, peanut butter, cereal and rice top the list of suggested donations, Villareal said.
