SAN ANTONIO -- While most students are getting ready to graduate, others are actually getting ready to go to school.

Hundreds of kids from Texas will be going to military school. Now students from San Antonio will be getting a big send-off downtown.

About 100 students headed to places like West Point, or the Naval Academy will be at the Villita Assembly Building at 1:30 p.m.Monday as part of a Memorial Day send-off

It’s a yearly traditions hosted by Texas senator, John Cornyn.

Cornyn along with General Edward Rice – Commander at Randolf Air Force Base – and (Ret) Army Major General Russell J. Czerw of Fort Sam Houston – will bid farewell to students leaving for some of America’s prestigious military schools.

This is the seventh time Cornyn has hosted an event like this. Last year, it was in Kyle -- the year before the event was held in Austin.

Along with high ranking military, local officials will be on hand as well as family and friends of the students bound for their military academy.

The event is free and open to the public and starts at 1:30 p.m. sharp at the Villita Assembly Building downtown.
