SAN ANTONIO -- Four children are now living without their mother.
They hope another family will be spared the same loss by not just knowing how to see the red flags, but also the safest route out.
"I really still feel she's going to wake up and come home," said Vicky Conde, holding back tears. "But it's not going to happen."
Her mother, 44-year-old Diane Conde, was discovered dead Aug. 14 on the side of the road wearing only underwear and sandals. Police believe her boyfriend, 50-year-old Armando Charles, deliberately ran over her head and then ditched the scene.
The family had reportedly confronted Charles before about allegedly laying his hands on their mother. It's a tragic example of domestic violence counselors hope will trigger more calls for help and will motivate people to plan the safest way to bail out of an abusive relationship.
"Love is blind," Vicky Conde said. "You just have to understand that you have to move on."
Charles is charged with murder.
If you need help, you are urged to call the hotline at 210-733-8810.
The family is struggling to make ends meet during this difficult time and plans to set up a fund in honor of their mother.
