HOUSTON – A star running back at Worthing High School was shot and killed in a carjacking Thursday night, Houston police said.
DeAndre Elliott, 17, was headed to his car in the parking lot of the Cullen Park apartments in southeast Houston just before midnight when he was approached by a group of suspects.
Investigators said the suspects demanded Elliott’s car and then shot him multiple times.
Elliott’s girlfriend heard the shots, and when she opened her door to investigate, she found Elliott mortally wounded outside. He’d been shot in the head and chest, police said.
Elliott died at the scene.
Witnesses said the suspects fled in Elliott’s vehicle, a bluish-green ’92 Buick Park Avenue with Texas plates 552-GNK. The vehicle has custom wire spoke wheels and whitewall tires, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call HPD Homicide.
