George H.W. Bush endorses Hutchison in gubernatorial race

HOUSTON -- Former President George H.W. Bush on Friday threw his support behind Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison’s campaign for Texas governor.

Bush announced his endorsement Friday in Houston, with former first lady Barbara Bush and Hutchison at his side.

It's Hutchison's second big-name endorsement this week, after former U.S. Secretary of State James Baker announced his support for Hutchison on Tuesday. Former Vice President Dick Cheney also has endorsed Hutchison.

Hutchison is challenging Gov. Rick Perry in the March 2 Republican primary.
