It’s the tanning bed’s bright lights that usually attract business… unless it’s business of the criminal kind.
Seven of 9 DarqueTan locations were struck by burglars early Thursday morning, stealing thousands of dollars in computer equipment, cash, and tanning products.
“The person’s wearing all black, over-sized hoody, and has a pony-tail. They’re entering through the front door and have a getaway car in the back,” said Amber Blank, manager of the DarqueTan properties. In most cases, the thief was in and out in less than two minutes.
Blank said at least two people were involved: one, an apparent insider. Blank said the thief knew where the cash was stashed, knew the key codes and was able to disarm the alarm systems in at least five of the facilities.
She escaped in what appears to be a dark-colored, Jeep Liberty captured on the grainy surveillance tape.
