In the city of Grey Forest it’s not uncommon to see wildlife, but peacocks popping up in one neighborhood has residents talking.

“They putz around and just enjoy life,” said Grey Forest resident Phil Howard.

“I love the peacocks they’re beautiful creatures,” said resident Debbie Swisher.

While it’s clear many residents like the exotic birds, apparently not everyone is enjoying them. Some have expressed concern to Grey Forest city officials that the peacocks are a nuisance, making a mess on their property and a lot of noise.

One woman who didn’t want to go on camera told KENS 5 the birds have been a headache for her yard. That’s one reason why the city council is looking at a possible change to their current animal ordinance.

“They really don’t know how to enforce that because there’s not really a peacock enforcement in any other city around here,” said resident Lee Holleway who wants the birds to stay.

So until and if, city officials decide to take any action, many residents are speaking out and hoping the peacocks will stay.

“They’re just like the deer, if you don’t feed them they don’t go in your yard, if you do feed them just like the deer they’re going to come in your yard,” said Holly Jenkins.

“I’d like to see them stay,” said Holleway.

“I’m surprised that anyone would complain about them because they are really gorgeous creatures,” said Swisher.
