San Antonio police said they've broken up a highly lucrative theft operation run by a man who had insider information on security at local retail stores.

Police said a San Antonio man, whose name has not yet been released, pocketed thousands of dollars by fencing stolen items on the Internet.

Police said the man is being charged with felony theft. He is reportedly an Army reservist who used to work for Target. Investigators said he used his former employment to prey on local Target stores to steal a bevy of merchandise.

Investigators seized between $10,000 and $20,000 in stolen goods from the suspect's San Antonio residence. They reportedly had been watching him rip off Target stores for this alleged theft ring.

Target's loss prevention department had been watching the suspect for around two months. SAPD continued the surveillance to make their case.

Property crime detectives said the suspect knew about weaknesses and soft spots in Target's security operation and used the knowledge to his advantage. The theft suspect would just load the items into a shopping cart and walk out, police said.

Detectives had a trailer full of stolen evidence from the man's residence. They seized movies, video games, clothing, electronics, and even crayons, to name a few things.

Police said their investigation is continuing and more arrests could be forthcoming.
