"Knowledge is Power" is the message coming from police at a safety fair held in San Antonio.

Local law enforcement joined forces Saturday at a Target store on Southwest Military Drive to promote National Night Out.

Kids visited with SAPD's Blue Bear while they enjoyed fun and safety activities.

Officers say it's a great way for them to reach out to local youth.

"Nowadays some kids are just scared to death of the police," said officer Tim Barlow. "But we get them to understand don't be afraid of us. You know, come up and talk to us anytime you need something come see us."

This year National Night Out will be held in October. It's a night meant to bring together neighbors to stand up against crime.
