SAN ANTONIO - A man was left fighting for his life at SAMMC following a bizarre tour bus accident. Police said the driver was thrown from the bus and he may have been run over by it afterward.
It happened at Highway 37 and E. Cesar Chavez. Police say the t34-year-old Erick Rivas driver for the Kerrville Bus Company was traveling south on the I-37 access road, attempting to turn onto the highway when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a concrete embankment.
The impact threw the driver out of the bus. In a strange twist, the driver landed in front of the bus and then the bus ran over him.
The driver was taken to SAMMC in critical condition.
A spokesperson for the Kerrville Bus Company speculated that the driver has diabetes and my have suffered an attack.
At this time it is not certain where the travel bus was headed to. There were was no one else on board the bus at the time of the accident.
Rivas may be released from the hospital later on Friday.
