NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- A new, super-service station a half hour northeast of San Antonio is making a national splash this week regarding its amenities.
“It's not your run of the mill gas station," said Zach Hudgins, an employee at Buc-ee’s, a massive service station boasting of 60 gas pump stations and 83 restroom stalls.
It was for the latter that travelers responding to a contest on a website for Cintas, a business supplier, took notice this week.
The bathroom at the Buc-ee’s in New Braunfels was voted the best in the country, beating out restrooms at the Hollywood Bowl and even a swank Chicago Hotel.
“I wasn't surprised. As soon as I heard I was like, 'Oh, yep, that's true!" exclaimed Cathy Frank, a traveler who spoke to KVUE -- KENS 5's sister station -- this week.
Customers and employees alike hope the national recognition will bring more tourists to the New Braunfels area to see for themselves.
