SAN ANTONIO -- Authorities believe a body found inside a car on the city's west side may be that of a Bexar County deputy who has been missing for a week.

The decomposed body was found Wednesday night inside Deputy John Salazar's blue Nissan Sentra. He has been missing since June 20.

The vehicle was parked in the parking lot of the Park Police training academy  in the 5800 block of Old Highway 90.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said in a press release earlier this week that he was last seen running errands in the Las Palmas area on city's west side.

The body has been taken to medical examiner's office and will undergo an autopsy on Thursday.

An identity will not be released until the autopsy is complete.

Authorities did not comment on whether foul play or possible suicide was suspected.
