Spain's Catalonia region has outlawed the age-old tradition of bullfighting, and the move has locals divided.
Lawmakers in Barcelona voted Wednesday on the ban.
Altough bullfighting is part of the culture, the number of bull fights across Spain has dropped by one third in recent years due to funding shortages.
Some say it's a sport, others see it as animal cruelty.
A pro-bullfighting group released a study predicting big economic losses for the city if bull fighting is banned, but nevertheless the ban passed by a vote of 68 to 55 and will take effect in 2012.
