SAN ANTONIO- Healing evangelist Alan Ames is spending the week in San Antonio. He has visited the Alamo City at least 15 times since the late 1990s.
Ames was addicted to many things and said he was delivered and given the gift to heal the sick.
"It's a wonderful surprise every day," said Ames. "What happens is God reaches out and touches people through me."
Ames said he used to be the bad guy people would avoid. He admits to stealing and cheating, but his life changed at the age of 40 when he says an angel spoke to him and guided him in the right direction.
Ames is from Australia and says he was led back to the Catholic Church by heaven.
"God loves people and he wants the best for their lives," said Ames.
About 400 people packed into Our Lady of Guadalupe-Helotes. Tuesday Ames will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe-San Antonio. Wednesday he will visit Little Flower. Friday he is scheduled to speak at St. Phillip of Jesus for a Spanish service. His final San Antonio visit will be at St. Jerome on Saturday at 5 p.m. All other services start at 7 p.m.
