Cornelia Hurling is not the only person looking for a lost dog. However, it is unlikely another missing pooch was as vital to their owner as Cornelia’s full-blooded boxer “Carmen."
“She picks things up for me, she goes and gets things for me.” said Cornelia “I depend on her a lot.”
Carmen is a service dog who helps the ailing Hurling in many different ways. Hurling suffers from many illnesses including lupus, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome. Her dog helps pickup items and pull her wheelchair amongst many other things.
However, Cornelia lost Carmen last Thursday while picking up medication at the Walgreen’s near Tezel road and Mainland. Since she was only going in for a few minutes, Cornelia left the well-trained dog near the door however, Carmen tried to come inside. A man said he would take the dog back to where she was sitting outside the door and that was the last time Carmen was seen.
“There was a gentleman going out who said he would take her out, but he took her out and into his car.”
Since that day, Carmen has spent her time putting up posters and looking around her neighborhood for the dog which has become an important part of her life.
Police filed a report for the theft and Cornelia is offering a reward for anyone who finds the dog.
“I need my dog desperately."
