Trees are like air-cleaning machines. And thanks to the American Recovery Reinvestment Act, the Texas Department of Transportation is planting hundreds of trees near state highways in San Antonio.
A contractor will take care of the trees for three years. After that, the trees will take care of themselves.
Laura Lopez, a spokesperson for TXDOT, said motorists have given the idea a green thumbs up.
Of course, a few complaints and questions have come in, but the money is available, so why not beautify the city and improve air quality?
