SAN ANTONIO -- An 8-year-old Floresville boy is lucky to be alive. Wyatt Hoover was getting an ice cream from a freezer in his garage when  he heard several shots.

The next thing he knew he was bleeding from his leg on his calf.

"He thought he was going to die. He was laying on the ground bleeding saying 'I am going to die'.  We were telling him, 'No, you’re not going to die, you’re going to be fine,'” says Wyatt's mom.

Wilson County Sheriff's deputies found shell casings around a sign on County Road 101 west of Floresville. The sign was hit more than 15 times.

What the shooters may not have realized is that Wyatt’s house is right behind the sign and over the hill directly in the path of an arching bullet they may have missed the sign.

Wyatt says they found two bullets inside his garage.

Wyatt was flown to University Hospital and he says when he was in the emergency room he thought he was in heaven. His mom told him, “Your fine. There are no hospitals in Heaven.'”
