A San Antonio father is accused of fracturing his eight-week-old son's skull and breaking both of his legs.

Authorities confirmed that 20-year-old Matthew Mays is facing charges of injury to a child.

The baby was admitted to Methodist Children's Hospital due to swelling in his head. But hospital staff called police saying the injuries appeared consistent with abuse.

Mays originally said the baby fell off the bed, but then changed his story, stating he dropped him while preparing his bottle.

Mays is being held in the Bexar County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
