#AskStacey: 'Yard sale' apps can help save money, get free stuff

#AskStacey: 'Yard sale' apps set you up with cheap, free stuff

Whether you're looking for furniture, clothes or toys, free apps can help set you up with new stuff.

Offer Up shows you what people are selling near you, and you can filter by location and time the offer was posted.

You can post your own items to be sold through the app, or make an offer to buy something.

One of the strangest things for sale? A zombie costume in the San Antonio area was advertised for $3.

The letgo app also lets you buy and sell items.

There's a "free stuff" section available on letgo where people give stuff away.

If you don't use apps very often, there's a "San Antonio Yard Sales" Facebook group with more than 75,000 members. You can request to join this group.

There are listings for everything from cars to houses to bed frames and home decorations.

If you do decide to buy and sell online, make sure you take precautions and meet in a public place.
