'Snap Map': Snapchat feature shows users' real-time locations

Instead of just seeing what your friends are up to, Snapchat's new feature means you can find out where they are in real time.

"Snap Map" allows users to post their current location, and those locations will appear on a map within the app.

TechCrunch reported that Snapchat is not planning to post ads on Snap Map for now.

Snapchat previously bought the map app Zenly, reportedly for about $250 million to $350 million. Snap Map is also based on Zenly, according to TechCrunch.

A custom BitMoji will also show up to mark a Snapchat user's location on the map.

Some users are posting screen shots of the map feature on Twitter, showing that it also marks major events around the world.

However, some people online are questioning whether the map feature is cool or creepy.

If you're worried about showing your location publicly through the app, or your children's location, there is a "ghost" switch under Snapchat's settings that allows you to turn off your location.
